Sandro Bazadze becomes World’s Best Sabre Fencer

Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze was named the world’s best sabre fencer of the 2022-2023 years season.

30-year-old Bazadze is the first Georgian fencer to claim the highest award in fencing. He was awarded at the International Fencing Federation Congress, hosted in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Georgian fencer is a two-time European champion and has finished in the top-3 in his 12th consecutive competition, including the World and European Championships, Grand Prix and World Cup contests over the 2022-2023 season.

It should be mentioned, that in 2025 Tbilisi will host World Fencing Championships.
