During the summer period, several specific facts of gross interference in pre-election processes by a foreign force were revealed. Such a statement the Chairman of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee of the Parliament, Givi Mikanadze, made at the plenary session.

“Among them, it is worth noting NDI’s financing and organization of meetings of opposition political parties and their representatives in the regions. This is evidenced by the meetings of women MPs of the opposition with the local population in Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Batumi, Ozurgeti and Gori in June and July, where they were given the opportunity to carry out pre-election agitation.

The non-governmental organization “Center for Democratic Engagement” was involved in the organization of the meeting together with NDI. Another such meeting was held in Tsnori with the support of NDI, where the leaders of [United] National Movement, Lelo, Girchi, Girchi - More Freedom and Strategy Agmashenebeli held a meeting with population, talked about election promises.

Against the background of recent developments, there is an intense anti-government activity on the part of NGOs in Georgia.
