Ilia Darchiashvili, Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has participated in the “Future Summit”, held as part of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
During the summit, which was initiated by UN Secretary General António Guterres, Darchiashvili highlighted the critical role of international financial institutions in addressing global challenges. He emphasized that Georgia is experiencing sustainable economic growth and outlined the government"s efforts to further promote the country’s development. This includes advancing global transport projects and infrastructure, with hopes for strengthened cooperation with international financial institutions in these areas.
The “Future Summit” was convened under the auspices of the UN Secretary General as part of the General Assembly. It was inspired by Guterres’ 2021 report, “Our Common Agenda”, in which he called for the summit to enhance global cooperation and address the world’s pressing challenges. Heads of state and foreign ministers from UN member countries attended the event, which will continue over several days. The Prime Minister of Georgia is also scheduled to address the participants during the summit"s plenary session.
