No surprise to anyone that the patrons of radical opposition want to punish Georgian citizens for their firm support for the Georgian Dream – Kobakhidze

The Prime Minister of Georgia said was no surprise to anyone that the patrons of the domestic radical opposition wanted to punish Georgian citizens for their firm support for the Georgian Dream [GD].

Irakli Kobakhidze’s comment followed after the McCain Institute report, which reads that the EU could consider a pause in visa-free travel for Georgians.

“Though controversial, several Georgian NGOs argued persuasively that this action would demonstrate in real terms to voters the consequences of GD government actions.

It probably comes as no surprise to anyone, these people have a political agenda. At the time, when visa liberalisation was being considered for the country, these people, representatives of this political force, including relevant NGOs actively lobbied against visa liberalisation. You remember similar processes related to the granting of the EU membership candidate status, when these NGOs, as well as the respective political parties, directly lobbied against granting the country the candidate status.

Even now, it is no surprise to anyone that these people want to punish the Georgian people for the sole reason - the Georgian people firmly support the GD and reject the radical opposition, the collective United National Movement, although I think that everything will develop very well for our country, for the Georgian people. And in the end we will definitely achieve the set goals”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
