Georgian Foreign Minister attended the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected Mexican President.

At the introductory meeting held within the inauguration ceremony in Mexico City, Ilia Darchiashvili congratulated Claudia Sheinbaum, the 1st female President of the country, on her election as the President, on behalf of the Georgian Government and people, and wished her success.

The sides had emphasised the “exceptionally friendly” and “partnership relations” between Georgia and Mexico and expressed hope for further strengthening the relationship. The new President of Mexico expressed her gratitude to the Georgian official for attending the ceremony and noted it was a good “impetus for future cooperation” between the two countries.

As part of his visit to Mexico, Darchiashvili also held an introductory meeting with Juan Ramón de la Fuente, the Foreign Affairs Secretary of Mexico, where the sides “positively” assessed the existing relations between the countries, highlighting the importance of “close partnership” for further strengthening the regional ties.

Darchiashvili thanked the Mexican side for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

He had also held meetings with his counterparts from the Central and South American countries during the visit.
