Prime Minister of Georgia inspected the Telavi Sports Palace. According to the Head of Government of Georgia, there were certain legal issues that have now been fully resolved and the sports complex will open in the near future.
“This complex was built, but there were certain legal issues. Today, they have been fully resolved and in the near future, this complex will open and be accessible to the residents of Telavi. Some final works will be carried out before it officially opens, but this will not take much time. Our goal is to further expand the sports infrastructure in Telavi”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
He also noted that Telavi needs a swimming pool and work on this issue has already begun.
“Today, I requested the First Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports to have this project prepared. Telavi also needs multifunctional sports infrastructure. We have already started working on this, and everything will be done to ensure that Telavi residents will soon have access to such facilities. As for the current facility, this sports center will open in the near future”, - added the Head of Government.
Around 22 MLN GEL was allocated for the multifunctional sports palace project. The work was completed by the Canadian company The Behlen. The complex includes large and small halls designed for 2000 spectators, changing rooms and administrative spaces. At this stage, the complex is managed by the SportMshenServis LLC.
The complex meets international standards. The sports palace can host international tournaments and age-group championships in various sports, including basketball, futsal, volleyball, handball, karate, judo, wrestling and gymnastics.
