The manifestation in the vicinity of the Parliament exceeded the norms defined by the Law on Assembly and Manifestation, reads the statement, released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Participants of the manifestation physically confronted and verbally insulted the law enforcement officers after numerous calls made by the officers on the spot and the statements issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Herewith, various objects were thrown in their direction, as a result of which three employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were injured. Two of them have been transferred to a medical facility.
In order to de-escalate the situation, police resorted to measures established by law and applied special means.
The MIA would like to call on each participant to refrain from illegal actions and follow the instructions of the law enforcement officers. Otherwise, the MIA will act within its mandate defined by the law and resort to coercive measures envisioned by the Georgian legislation, including the special means defined by the Law of Georgia ‘On Police’”, - reads the statement of the agency.
