Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met the Mayor of Shanghai, Gong Zheng. The Head of Government of Georgia thanked the Mayor for hosting the Georgian delegation and underlined the special significance of Georgia`s participation as a Guest of Honor at the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The meeting highlighted the friendly relations between Georgia and the People`s Republic of China, as well as the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various fields. The Prime Minister of Georgia once again expressed gratitude to the Mayor of Shanghai for his warm hospitality.
"Shanghai is one of the best examples of China`s progress and modernization. It is truly impressive to see how China continues to develop across different sectors. We attach great importance to strengthening cooperation with China. The signing of the strategic partnership agreement between our countries has elevated our relations to an entirely new level. For us, it is important to achieve tangible and practical results in our bilateral relations. Participation in the International Import Expo is particularly meaningful, as alongside political cooperation, we place special emphasis on strengthening economic ties. I am pleased that Georgia and China enjoy intensive trade and economic relations", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
The Mayor of Shanghai also focused on the friendly relations between China and Georgia: “Mr. Prime Minister, I am delighted to host you in Shanghai during the International Import Expo, in which Georgia is participating as a Guest of Honor. China and Georgia have always been good friends and partners. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, our two countries have always shown mutual respect and trust. As a result, our strategic partnership has reached a very positive stage of development. As President Xi Jinping noted in his congratulatory letter to President Kavelashvili, China is ready to continue working with Georgia to further develop our traditional friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as to promote the deepening of China-Georgia relations for the benefit of our peoples. China has always attached great importance to its friendly relations with Georgia. A clear example of this is the twinning of Shanghai and Tbilisi, which will allow us to further advance mutually beneficial and pragmatic cooperation".
The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Davit Songhulashvili, Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, President of the Central Bank of Georgia Natia Turnava and Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
