President of Georgia held a face-to-face meeting with his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vučić

The President of Georgia held a face-to-face meeting with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.

The parties discussed the close friendly ties, cultural proximity, shared values, and contemporary geopolitical challenges existing between the two countries. They also deliberated on the necessity of deepening cooperation between Georgia and Serbia in political, economic, technological, educational, and scientific-research directions.

As Mikheil Kavelashvili noted, the shared cultural identity and the complex challenges facing both states create a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral relations and for supporting each other’s positions on the international stage.

He particularly emphasized the intensified dynamics of high-level visits between the countries. It was noted that the visit paid by the President of Georgia to Belgrade in December 2025 was the first-ever visit held at the presidential level, and today, Aleksandar Vučić is visiting Tbilisi for the first time within the framework of an official visit, which will inject a qualitatively new impulse into the Georgia-Serbia partnership and bilateral dialogue.

During the meeting, the leaders reviewed the ongoing political processes in both countries and also focused on the importance of ensuring global peace, security, and stability. It was stated that against the backdrop of the fundamental transformation of the international order and the balance of power, maintaining stability and peace in both regions is gaining particular urgency.

The President of Georgia emphasized that Georgia, as one of the key links of the "Middle Corridor", is interested in expanding its partnership with the Western Balkans region, which will contribute to the development of transport and logistics connections between Europe and Asia.

At the meeting, he reaffirmed that the vector of peace, stability, and economic prosperity chosen by the Georgian government remains unwavering, as evidenced by the country`s traditional peace policy in the South Caucasus, aimed at achieving long-term, sustainable stability and deepening mutual trust among neighboring states.

Mikheil Kavelashvili thanked his counterpart for firm support of Georgia`s territorial integrity and sovereignty. After the conclusion of the meeting, Aleksandar Vučić left a commemorative entry in the guestbook of honor at the Orbeliani Palace.
