Capital projects worth more than GEL 25 million are planned in Marneuli Municipality

In 2026, five capital projects worth GEL 25,164,237 are planned to be implemented in Marneuli Municipality to develop irrigation infrastructure and improve the supply of irrigation water.

The planned projects include the restoration and rehabilitation of the Khrami-Arkhi and Akhali Sadakhlo irrigation schemes, as well as the Lomtagora Main Irrigation Canal, and the repair of damaged sections of the main canal of the Lezhbadini Mechanical Lift Irrigation System.

Upon completion of the works, the water supply will be improved for 4,825 hectares of agricultural land in Marneuli Municipality.

In addition, two capital projects have already been completed in the municipality: the rehabilitation of the Keshalo Pumping Station, valued at GEL 708,513, and the rehabilitation of the main canal of the Khrami-Arkhi Irrigation System, valued at GEL 3,735,868. At this stage, restoration and rehabilitation works are underway at the Imirasani Headworks, the Barataanthi Canal Irrigation System, and the side-intake headworks on the Debeda River. In addition, works are in progress on the Iberia and Aghmashenebeli Main Canals to restore water intake structures and guide canals, as well as to construct embankments. The total cost of the ongoing projects amounts to GEL 8.8 million. Upon completion of the works, irrigation water supply will be improved for 3,320 hectares of agricultural land.

As part of operation and maintenance works, 73 km of irrigation and drainage canals were cleaned and maintained in Marneuli Municipality, two major hydraulic structures were repaired, and 48 hydraulic structures of various types were replaced and repaired.

The modernization of irrigation infrastructure is also actively underway in other municipalities of the Kvemo Kartli region.

Three construction and rehabilitation projects have already been completed in the region, six are currently underway, and another seven projects are planned to be implemented.

In total, capital projects worth up to GEL 51 million will be implemented in the region in 2026, which will improve water supply for 15,200 hectares of agricultural land.

In addition, this year, 305 km of irrigation and drainage canals and 9 km of pipelines were cleaned and maintained across the region, seven major hydraulic structures were repaired, and 401 hydraulic structures of various types were replaced and repaired. The rehabilitation and operation and maintenance works carried out by “Georgian Amelioration” Ltd serve to ensure the proper functioning of irrigation infrastructure, reliable water supply, and improved services for farmers.
