Adviser to Ukraine"s Interior Minister, Zorian Shikriak says that the former President of Georgia and governor of Odessa has been arrested at the order of the Prosecutor General"s office. The statement was made by Zorian Shikriak to the "Courieri".

According to him, the detention of Saakashvili was based on Article 256 of the Criminal Code, which implies the promotion of organized criminal group.

"Mr. Saakashvili is really detained by the National Prosecutor General of Ukraine. He was arrested under Article 256 of the Criminal Code, which implies the involvement in an organized criminal group. At this moment he is in a preliminary detention facility and was detained in one of the districts of Kiev. The operation went smoothly and he did not resist. I hope the court will sentence him to preventive detention, "Zorian Shikriak said.
