"The appeal belongs to 4 people, one of them was the Georgian government`s hired consultant in 2008."- responded the leader of the parliamentary majority, Archil Talakvadze to the appeal of the European Parliament to immediately release Vano Merabishvili.

The European Parliament"s statement on this issue was spread yesterday, where European MPs talk about the decision of the Grand Chamber of Strasbourg and indicate the need for human rights protection.

Talakvadze states that the decision of the European Court is not about political persecution at all.

"The European Court has clearly stated in its decision that political motivation in Mr Merabishvili"s case and his detention is excluded," Archil Talakvadze said.
