NGO representatives and media researchers are preparing to meet with the President of Georgia. Giorgi Margvelashvili will receive them tomorrow. The main theme of the conversation is changes in the law on the Public Broadcaster, which the Parliament has already discussed on the second hearing.
The bill states that the Public Broadcaster can place commercial advertisements during the day.
Media researchers say the amendments are problematic and it was also confirmed at the hearing of the Committee on Sector Economy. when none of the MPs ssupported these changes.
Mamuka Andghuladze, a member of the Transparency International-Georgia NGO, says that the GPB already has a very solid income, which is linked to the budget and the search for additional revenues will significantly damage small broadcasters.
