Vano Merabishvili"s lawyer, Giorgi Chiviashvili says that there were all prerequisites for the release of the former prime minister.He does not rule out that the Committee of Ministers of the European Court will use the mechanism of enforcement, and the decision will be obligatory for the Georgian government.

Opposition representatives say that Vano Merabishvili is a political prisoner and he should be released immediately.

"Merabishvili, Akhalaia and other political prisoners are sitting in jail only because they did not give testimony against the third president of Georgia and also the oligarch wants to see them in jail,"- said Khatia Dekanoidze, a member of United National Movement.

The opposition says that the decision of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles is politically motivated.
