We made the hardest decision for us and cancelled May 17 action - LGBT rights defenders

Two parallel rallies will not be held in Tbilisi today. LGBT rights defenders cancelled the action announced at the government administration. The organizers named the possible controversy as a reason for cancelling the rally against Homophobia and Transphobia. Human Rights Defenders say they have not received a guarantee of peaceful conduct of the rally and expected the escalation of the situation from neo-Nazi groups. The decision was made as a result of a few hours of noisy negotiations. On the Ninoshvili Street, where a tense meeting was held, the Patrol Police was summoned several times.

"An unprecedented mobilization has been announced by the hostile groups against us, including the Patriarchy and the fascist groups that about which we have a reasonable doubt that they cooperate with our country"s enemy- Russian security services. So we made a consolidated decision to cancel rally on May 17, "- said the" white noise " representative, George Kikonishvili.
