Salome Zurabichvili renounces French citizenship

Salome Zurabichvili has appealed to the French Embassy to renounce her citizenship. Eka Beselia, the Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee has confirmed the information. She has not specified when she sent a statement to the embassy.

It is unknown whether Zurabichvili renounces her French citizenship due to the upcoming presidential elections.

"According to out electoral code that a presidential candidate cannot be a citizen of another country in the process of registration,"- said Eka Beselia.

According to the spread information, Salome Zourabichvili will run in the presidential election as an independent candidate. It is presumably that Salome Zurabishvili will be an independent candidate supported by the ruling team.
