Ten million euros - Strasbourg Court imposes compensation for the mass deportation of Georgians to Russia

The Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights imposed € 10 million in compensation for the mass deportation of Georgians in 2006 to Russia. There are 1500 victims in the case.

Sixteen judges of the Grand Chamber supported this decision, only one judge was against.

According to the Court"s decision, those Georgians, in relation to whom only one Article of the Convention was violated, will receive 2 thousand euros.
Those citizens, against whom two articles were violated in 2006, will receive from 10 thousand to 15 thousand euros.
