The ruling team responds to Eka Beselia"s legislative initiative which relates to the suspension of judges" lifetime appointment.
Aleksandre Erkvaia, who is among 9 MPs who have signed the draft law, says he will wait for the decision of the ruling team. According to him, if there is not a single position on this issue, then each member of the majority will make an individual decision.
The ruling party says that "Georgian Dream" has no principled objection to the initiative of Eka Beselia, but before the decision is made, the majority should listen to legal arguments.
"This issue was raised in the team. We have discussed this issue, the decision has not yet been made. We need to be guided by the legal circumstances that we have and the aim of which is to improve the judicial system. If we are convinced and the team will come to this conclusion, of course anyone"s initiative should be supported, "said Ani Okanashvili.
The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Procedural Issues and Rules Committee does not exclude that the draft law will be supported.
