The population of Pankisi Gorge is gathered in the village of Birkani and discusses future plans together with local NGOs.

According to locals, they will not allow the construction of hydro power plants in the gorge and will not let the detention of the villagers.

As the Pankisi people say , yesterday during the punitive operation, the government used firearms along with rubber bullets and they have specific evidence.

" Residents of Zeda Khevi provided us with shells of Glock type weapon. Presumably they were shot by law enforcers, "said journalist Islam Gorgishvili.

The locals call on the government to refrain from detentions.
