The new U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan arrived to Tbilisi. As she said in her first comment, it is an honor for her to serve as Ambassador in Georgia.

“I’m glad to be here. It is great honor for me to serve as the US Ambassador to Georgia and I look forward to contributing to the strong partnership between Georgia and the US.

We have been working together for nearly 30 years to help build Georgia’s democratic institutions and processes, diversifying the economy, improving education and health systems. Of course, we are helping Georgia strengthen its defense to protect its borders and its citizens.

Georgia has made tremendous progress over the years but there is still a lot to be done. I was looking forward to helping Georgia with my team and Washington, to achieve stability, success and safety”, - said the Ambassador.

Degnan was sworn in as the new U.S. Ambassador to Georgia at the U.S. Department of State on January 17. The White House presented her candidacy for post of U.S. Ambassador to Georgia in September of 2019. The Senate approved Degnan’s candidacy in December.
