Gigi Ugulava sentenced to three years and two months in prison

Gigi Ugulava sentenced to three years and two months in prison. The Supreme Court has found him guilty of embezzling money.

The Court satisfied the prosecution’s motion, according to which, Ugulava embezzled funds from the Tbilisi Development Fund. In particular, formet Mayor was accused of embezzling GEL 48 mln.

The Court of Appeal had sentenced Gigi Ugulava to 1 and 3 months in prison for abuse of power, though this sentence was absorbed by a penalty in another case. This decision has been changed by the Supreme Court.

The court announced the judgment without an oral hearing.
