Public Defender, Ucha Nanuashvili decsribes in his  2016 report the challenges in the law enforcement system .

According to the Ombudsman, 800-page study focused on the use of excessive force by the police, physical and psychological violence, incomplete documentation, according to the Public Defender, still remains a challenge for the police system.

"No criminal prosecution has been carried out as a result of Public Defender"s appeal regarding alleged ill-treatment . Therefore, our recommendation as it used to be in the last few years still remains the request to set up an independent investigative mechanism, which will ensure the effective investigation of such cases, "- said Nanuashvili.

Ombudsman noted that the report focused on the repressive drug policy, which resulted in the infringement of human rights.

The review of the Public Defender"s 2016 report will start in the Parliament on April 11.
