Opposition parties are not mature enough to discuss draft laws - Irakli Kobakhidze

The opposition parties are not mature enough to discuss the draft laws - the Chairman of the Parliament assessed the legislative proposals submitted to the Parliament by 14 opposition parties regarding the local self-government elections.

At the end of the day Irakli Kobakhidze made a statement at the parliamentary bureau session.

"All this demonstrates how mature are certain parties to consider draft laws. We have a very hard situation, "said Irakli Kobakhidze.

Mamuka Mdinaradze, one of the leaders of the parliamentary majority, criticized the initiators of the amendments from the opposition . Mdinaradze said that the demand for amendments to the non-existent law is a shame.

"We have parties that ask for amendments to the non-existent laws. It is really a shame when politicians, parties criticize constitutional amendments, and declare a boycott. They do not know that the concrete code has already been invlaid for three years and it is especially shameful when they are asking for amendment of this code, " - Mamuka Mdinaradze said.

The opposition, alongside with the Election Code, demanded the amendment to the law on local self-government, which exists today in the form of local self-governance code and addressed the Parliament with amendments to the law on Tbilisi, which no longer exists and has been invalid since 2014.
