Differentiating between criticism and insulting - Nino Gvenetadze, unlike some of her colleagues, is not supporting sanctions

Where is the border between the permissible and unacceptable criticism of the judges - the members of the High Council of Justice make additional explanations about the initiative of imposing sanctions against the judge.

Nino Gvenetadze, the chairwoman of the Supreme Court, declares that she is not supporting sanctions, but believes that public discussions should be held with the involvement of different representatives of society and professional groups on this issue.
"The aim of such a dialogue is to increase trust in the judiciary and awareness of the public, the media and judges. Judges naturally want to return public trust. Therefore, our motivation is not inclined towards any sanctions," said Nino Gvenetadze.
According to her, the judiciary can find a margin between criticism and insult only by using its own practice and ethical standards., " - said Nino Gvenetadze.

Nino Gvenetadze states that in case of insult, national legislation already envisages relevant regulations and sanctions. However, some of her colleagues say that the current legislation is ineffective and they speak about the importance of new regulations.
