Georgian Parliament starts discussions on the constitutional project, - Parliamentary Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze has declared.

Irakli Kobakhidze talked about the new draft constitution at the briefing held a few minutes ago.

According to him, after the general public discussions of the constitutional amendments, the committee meetings will be held during the current session from Friday to Friday.

The draft constitution will be discussed at the five committee sitting.

"We wanted to discuss the draft law at regular sessions from June 12 to June 26, As Venice Commission plenary session is planned to be held on June 16, we have decided to wait for its final conclusion. Therefore, we will have to summon an extra session and hold a discussion. Afterwards we will launch committee discussions and it will be followed with plenary ones,’ Kobakhidze has said.

According to the chairman of the parliament, the current version of the document will be reviewed according to the results of universal public discussions and on the basis of the Venice Commission"s remarks.
