Chairman of the Parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze and Minister of Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze met with non-governmental organizations on the issue of self-government reform. The plans regarding the reform of self-government were presented to the representatives of the third sector.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, it is important to develop a strategic plan for decentralization.
The ruling team`s arguments are unacceptable for non-governmental organizations. Representatives of the civil sector said that they could not get answers on why the status of self-governing cities should be abolished.
"The abolition of the status of self-governing cities will definitely reflect on the quality of local democracy and it is very important. Unfortunately, this is not only our assessment, I think our international partners will have the same position, "- said Zviad Devdariani, executive director of the Civil Development Agency (CIDA).
