Georgia is a source, transit, and destination country for women and girls subjected to sex trafficking and men, women, and children subjected to forced labor - US State Department releases annual report

Sex trafficking in Adjara and forced prostitution are the issues ,mentioned by the annual report of the US Department of State.
Georgia has been in the first tail of document for the second year. The report reads that : " The Government of Georgia fully meets the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking. The government continued to demonstrate serious and sustained efforts during the reporting period; therefore, Georgia remained on Tier 1. The government demonstrated serious and sustained efforts by adopting the
2017-2018 national action plan and continuing proactive investigations and screening of vulnerable populations for trafficking indicators.

The document also states that " Georgia is a source, transit, and destination country for women and girls subjected to sex trafficking and men, women, and children subjected to forced labor ."

"We hope that the 21st century will be the last century of human trafficking and that is what we are responsible for,"- said US Secretary of State Rex Tylerson.
