The President believes that the status of self-governing cities should be preserved. Therefore he vetoed the draft law. Giorgi Margvealshvili"s administration states that abolition of self-governing cities will have a negative impact on the country"s democratic development.

Ana Dolidze, the Parliamentary Secretary of the President commented on the issue.

"According to our position, the presented amendments worsen the quality of democracy in our country. It reverses reforms , launched by Georgian Dream,"- said Ana Dolidze.
