The Russian President`s visit to occupied Abkhazia has been criticized in Georgia. While being in Sokhumi, Russian leader did not conceal that the key interest of the Kremlin in the occupied region is the Russian military base .

In addition to security guarantees, Putin gave to the so-called leader of the occupied Abkhazia on the anniversary of the Russian-Georgian war other promises,including financial and economic. Putin also told Abkhazians that Russia will get them involved in the mandatory system of health care.

Opposition believes that the policy of the government is wrong towards Russia, which is confirmed by Putin`s last visit to occupied Abkhazia.

The government does not take criticism and says that Putin`s provocative action will be protested in all international formats.

NATO and the European Union protested against Putin`s visit to occupied Abkhazia on the anniversary of the Russian-Georgian war.

Both statements say that this fact violates the principle of territorial integrity and threatens the efforts of the international community to resolve the conflict.
