Kvirikashvili takes over Chairman of Open Government Partnership from French President

The Georgian delegation will attend the opening of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister met with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Grimminger.

During the meeting in UN headquarters in New York, the issues of cooperation between Georgia and the OSCE, as well as the situation in the occupied territories and OSCE role in the peaceful settlement of the conflict were discussed.

"The OSCE plays a very serious role in the conflict in Georgia. The OSCE is present at the Geneva international talks as one of the co-chairs and it is natural for us to talk about these issues with the new Secretary General. The situation in the occupied territories was discussed in detail. We have provided comprehensive information regarding the situation there, "- said Davit Zalkaliani, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili will be the Chairman of the Open Government Partnership for one year after the French President. The high level meeting will be held in New York after the opening of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly and the opening ceremony will be attended by the Georgian delegation.

Today Prime Minister will meet with EU High Representative Federica Mogerini. On behalf of the United Nations Secretary General, the heads of delegations will be hosted at the state lunch given in the name of Donald and Melania Trump.

Within the framework of the visit, the meeting was held with the President of the European Council Donald Tusk.
