Switzerland"s Alpine Zone is paralyzed due to heavy snowfall. Roads and railway are blocked in the resort leaving thousands of people in isolation. The most difficult situation is in Zermatt ski resort, where 13 thousand tourists are blocked.

The heavy snowfall damaged the power lines. Visitors are not allowed to leave hotels. Skiing and hiking tracks are closed due to the danger of avalanche.

A similar situation is in the Alps of Italy and France.
