Law enforcers have launched an investigation into 324 facts of illegal purchase and storage of weapons and ammunition during the last month. Criminal prosecution is in progress towards 72 persons. The Ministry of Internal Affairs publishes data on seized firearms;12 pieces of automatic firearms, 73 carabines, rifle and hunting guns, 34 pistols and revolvers, 11 handmade and rebuilt firearms, 18 gas, sound and pneumatic weapons, as well as a large number of different types and caliber combat cartridges.

According to the information , since January 1 of the current year, investigation has started on 659 facts of illegal purchase or storage of firearms and ammunition. Georgia has initiated legal proceedings against 155 persons.
