The ruling party MPs evaluate the new candidates for the chairmanship of the Central Election Commission. Salome Zourabichvili named three candidates for the post of CEC chairperson, one of them is Tamar Zhvania.
In the "Georgian Dream", they say that there was no agreement between them and the president that they would support Tamar Zhvania, but the parliamentary majority underlines that the CEC chairperson is the person who gets most of the support and the election held are named as an argument.
"Someone can say that it has been agreed but we do not have an agreement. I am interested in the opinion of the candidates and their vision regarding the electronic system of counting the votes, "- said Levan Koberidze.
MP Beka Natsvlishvili says that there is no time to make accusations.
"We should take into account the experience, reports of international organizations, and we will see that during the time of Tamar Zhvania the elections were conducted in the most peaceful and fair environment," Beka Natsvlishvili said.
Salome Zourabichvili, named CEC Chairperson Tamar Zhvania, Vladimer Bozhadze, the head of the NGO, and Mariam Shlegia, the coordinator of the government administration and the "Georgian Dream" contributor for the vacant position of Chairperson of the CEC.
The MPs will gather at the extraordinary session today. Parliament should vote for the termination of MP mandate for Salome Zourabichvili. The Committee on Procedural Issues has already prepared the conclusion that Giorgi Kakhiani will present to the Parliament today.
