14 839 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours

1 800 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council.

 

“Within the scope of intensive testing 14 839 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 8 253 were antigen-based express test method and 6 586 PCR.


1 800 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 233 879 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.


489 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 223 276.


Unfortunately, 20 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 2 666.


Out of 1 800 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 735 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 119 - in Adjara, 331 - in Imereti, 128 - in Kvemo Kartli, 103 - in Shida Kartli, 43 - in Guria, 151 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 116 - in Kakheti, 22 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 35 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 17 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.


At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 7 911, out of which 3 901 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 1 921 are stationed in Tbilisi, 359 - in Adjara and 731 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 863 patients, out of which 364 are based in Tbilisi, 92 - in Adjara and 213 - in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 279 patients, out of which 171 are stationed in Tbilisi, 18 - in Adjara and 34 - in Imereti. 765 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 211 are based in Tbilisi, 455 - in Adjara and 26 - in Imereti. 3 245 individuals are treated at home.


484 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 154 are located in Tbilisi, 45 - in Adjara and 64 - in Imereti.


In total, 21 235 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6, 2020 through January 5, 2021.


At present, 24 279 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 14 703 are based in Tbilisi, 1 958 - in Adjara and 2 497 - in Imereti”, - said Berdia Sichinava.
