Russian hacker Andrei Tyurin, who was extradited from Georgia to the U.S. in 2018, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for involvement in mass network intrusions of US financial institutions, brokerage firms, news agencies and other American companies.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Tyurin used computer infrastructure located across 5 continents, which he controlled from his home in Moscow. Tyurin earned over USD 19 million in profits from his hacking activities.
