On January, 14 Georgia celebrates National Flag Day

Today Georgia marks National Flag Day that is also known as the Five Cross Flag of Georgia.

In 1999 the Parliament of Georgia passed a bill to restore the red-on-white cross design of the flag. The bill was not endorsed by the President, Eduard Shevardnadze. However, it was adopted on January 14, 2004 by the United National Movement.

Today, at 12:00, five cross flags will be displayed on historic balconies of the Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly.
