The Prime Minister of Georgia has issued an address on the occasion of the Day of Abkhazia.
“We celebrate the Day of Abkhazia on May 23 in our homeland.
I wholeheartedly congratulate the entire Georgia, especially our Abkhaz brothers and sisters on this day.
This yet another excellent tradition introduced with the blessing of His Holiness Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia symbolises the unity of Georgians and Abkhazians. We are divided by the occupation line today, however what unites us is a common history and culture, values and aspiration for a better future for our children, igniting the belief that tomorrow is all about unity, peace and friendship.
We do our best towards this end and I am confident that in the not so far future we will manage to get united again to start building a strong, developed and European country together”, - reads the statement of Irakli Garibashvili.
