It is unacceptable for me to continue to be at the meeting where my colleagues are not allowed - Chairman of GYLA left the meeting of the working group created for the revision of the Election Code

The Government is going to take revenge against ISFED, this is how the Chairman of GYLA assesses the fact that the NGO “Fair Elections” was not allowed to participate in the working group created for the revision of the Election Code, the meeting of which is being held in the Parliament.

“Yesterday, the board of the platform made a consensus decision that we and “Fair Elections” will be represented in this working format, because no party or Government has the right to interfere in the activities of civil organizations.

This gross interference is a political persecution of the organization against which the Government intends to retaliate. The authorities cannot provide any evidence that the official position of “Fair Elections” was that the demand of the technical Government was set.

It was a demand voiced at the rally, not an official demand for “Fair Elections”. I suspect that there are other political motives behind all this. This issue is unacceptable and I will discuss it at the meeting of the working group. It is unacceptable for me to continue to be at the meeting where there will be no organization with such great experience”, - said Nika Simonishvili.
