Yesterday’s killing shows us how fragile peace is and that it needs to be taken care of, it is necessary to implement a rational policy - Papuashvili

Yesterday’s killing shows us how fragile peace is and that it needs to be taken care of, it is necessary to implement a rational policy. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Parliament.

“The challenges we face in the form of occupation are a daily threat to our peace, so there is a need to implement a rational policy so that we do not have a large-scale conflict in the country.

It is difficult to judge past issues, however, the fact remains that this is the legacy left by the previous government in the form of occupation. The main policy of Georgian Dream is that there is an understanding that the threats are serious. When the head of the Security Service was present and we listened to the issues in a closed format, we also talked about it. Every citizen should be aware of the security risks that the country faces. These risks should not be realized.

Georgia has security risks. The problem is that many politicians in the opposition turn a blind eye to this, as if we were a country that could exist without these risks. That’s why they said that we should impose sanctions, they wanted loud approaches to everything. They turn a blind eye to the risks and challenges that the country and the region face. Let’s look at how many risks have been realized in the region, how real is the danger for Georgia. We are talking about the fact that there are serious security risks, but the radical opposition turns a blind eye to this as if we are an island, isolated, which lives peacefully, as if the two regions are not occupied.

I want to express my condolences to the family of our citizen. The murder that happened yesterday, the people who committed it need to be punished. We expect evaluations from international partners and punishment of criminals, the government is very active in this regard”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
