I congratulate our Georgian friends on the positive conclusion on granting candidate status. The President of Azerbaijan spoke about this during a speech at one of the universities in Baku.

Ilham Aliyev wished Georgia success on the way to join the European Union.

“Azerbaijan and Georgia are close partners. Our partnership is not limited to energy. Thanks to this cooperation, we were able to present our countries as a single, strategically important team in Europe...

We completely understand Georgia’s desire to join the European Union, and I wish success to our Georgian friends on this path and congratulate Georgia on being granted [candidate] status”, - said Ilham Aliyev.
