CEC publishes rules for participation in the Parliamentary Elections of Georgia

The Central Election Commission publishes rules for participation in the Parliamentary Elections of Georgia.

“The parliamentary elections of Georgia will be held on 26 October 2024. In order to obtain the right to participate in the parliamentary elections of Georgia, party registration procedures are carried out in accordance with the terms established by Article 113 of the Organic Law of Georgia “Election Code of Georgia”.

“We hereby inform you that the political parties registered for the 2020 parliamentary elections in Georgia, cited below, meet the conditions stipulated by the Election Code; at the time of the appointment of the parliamentary elections in Georgia, these parties had members of the Parliament elected in accordance with their nominations.

“Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia”,
“Lelo for Georgia”;
“New Political Centre – Girchi”;
“Aleko Elisashvili – Citizens”;
“European Georgia – Movement for Liberty”;
“Alliance of Patriots of Georgia”;
“Giorgi Vashadze – Strategy Aghmashenebli”;
“Law and Justice”;
“United National Movement”;
“European Democrats of Georgia”;
“Republican Party of Georgia”;
“Movement – State for People”;
“Progress and Freedom”.

A proper statement signed by the head (s) of the party should be submitted by mentioned parties to participate in the parliamentary elections of Georgia to the CEC Chair following the appointment of the election and no later than the 57th day before the Election Day.

A party that fails to meet the conditions established by Article 113, Clause 1, Sub-Clause “A” of the Election Code, in order to receive the right to participate in the Parliamentary elections of Georgia, shall apply to the CEC Chair with an appropriate statement signed by head (s) of the party from January 1 to July 15 of the year of the parliamentary elections. Upon submitting the application, the head (s) of the party will be given a sample list of supporters. The party is obliged to submit a list of at least 25,000 voters supporting the party’s participation in the parliamentary election of Georgia to the CEC within 60 days of receiving the sample list of party supporters, but no later than August 1. The list of supporters is verified by the appropriate service of the CEC in accordance with the procedure established by Article 38 of the Election Code and within the established period.

We would like to remind you that along with the application, an extract/note from the registry of political unions of citizens (parties) issued by the LEPL National Agency of Public Registry operating under the governance of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia should be attached. The document should be issued during the past 10 days before submitting it at the CEC and should indicate the head/ authorized representatives of the party.

The Central Election Commission of Georgia calls on the political parties that want to participate in the parliamentary elections of Georgia to promptly carry out all necessary procedures to obtain the said right”.
