Bidzina Ivanishvili would not refuse to protect the country’s interests and sovereignty out of fear of sanctions. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules.
“The Georgian people clearly saw that Bidzina Ivanishvili is not the person who, out of fear of this or that threat or sanctions, will refuse to defend Georgia, defend the interests of Georgia, defend the sovereignty of Georgia.
Bidzina Ivanishvili’s main message has always been one thing - Georgia is a state, and everyone should have an appropriate attitude towards this state. So, talking to Bidzina Ivanishvili with sanctions is never effective, if we take into account that in fact, for two years, he has already been under informal sanctions and has not once betrayed the interests of her country”, - said Irakli Kadagishvili.
His comment followed after the media reports alleged that James O’Brien, the Head of the Office of Sanctions Coordination at the US Department of State, was planning to present a package of sanctions against Ivanishvili, due to which, the Georgian Dream would soften the bill on transparency of foreign influence.
