Presentation of operational infrastructure (warehouse) and interim report of 2024 elections was held in election administration. Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC), presented the operational infrastructure (warehouse) that meets modern standards to representatives from state agencies, local and international organizations, the diplomatic corps, and the media and experts.
As CEC Chair emphasized the design and implementation of the operational infrastructure (warehouse) were guided by international best practices in electoral technology, ensuring the 2024 elections are organized at the highest standards. Giorgi Kalandarishvili provided the guests with a detailed overview of implemented activities as well as ongoing efforts by the Election Administration to conduct elections in line with international standards.
“The operational infrastructure (warehouse) and the business processes implemented here are designed to fulfill the primary goal of the Election Administration - to provide quality services to voters and, ultimately, to organize elections at a high standard in line with international best practices. As the electronic devices for the 2024 parliamentary elections were gradually introduced in Georgia, it became necessary to establish a properly equipped facility that meets all the required standards and conditions for the storage and operation of these devices. That is why we carefully studied international practices, made multiple visits to the United States, and, drawing on their experience, planned the implementation of this project”, - said Giorgi Kalandarishvili.
Adjacent to the administrative building of the CEC, construction of a modern operational and warehouse facility was completed in 7 months. The total area spans 7,118 square meters, with the 2-story building itself covering 5,434 square meters. The building was fully equipped with the necessary infrastructure, including freight elevators, network and industrial desks for operating electronic equipment, and a comprehensive security system. The building also features office spaces, warehouses, operation and installation areas, as well as other support areas. The infrastructure is fully adapted to support the business processes involving the preparation, packaging, and centralized distribution of electronic devices and electoral materials to the election commissions.
Electronic devices and electoral inventory are stored on shelves in specialized areas that maintain appropriate temperature and humidity levels. Fire safety measures and territorial security are also implemented.
