The Mayor of Tbilisi criticized the President’s lawsuit that is challenging the results of October general elections, accusing her of attempting to “harm the country’s image”.
Kakha Kaladze alleged her actions had been driven by “self-interest rather than concern for Georgia’s future”: “She has no interest in Georgia’s fate or what happens in the country. Her lawsuit is baseless and harmful to Georgia’s reputation”.
He condemned the lawsuit, which alleges violations of the constitutional principles of secrecy and universality of the vote, for “lacking evidence”.
“Neither the President nor the opposition have substantiated their claims of electoral fraud. If the elections were falsified as they claim, let them present even a single piece of evidence. None exists. These are speculative and deceitful statements, nothing more.
Salome Zourabichvili is acting under foreign influence, her actions are part of a broader campaign to tarnish the country’s image. She is an agent of foreign patrons and opposition groups are traitors working to destabilise Georgia”, - concluded the Mayor.
