Number of employees reached all-time high in Q3 - Vakhtang Tsintsadze

The number of employees in the country reached an all-time high in the 3rd quarter of the year, with an increase of 41,300 workers, to a total of 1,408,000. Such a statement made today the Deputy Economy Minister of Georgia.

“The unemployment rate of 13.8% marked a record low for the same quarter. The level of employment had climbed by 1.8%, and was now at 47.1%.

A positive trend is observed in the increasing numbers of both self-employed individuals and hired employees. Overall, when examining labour market trends, it is important to note that as the labour force grows, the number of employed individuals is rising at an even greater rate, leading to a decrease in the unemployment level. This further confirms the positive and healthy trends present in the market.

Numerous international financial institutions have revised their economic growth forecasts for Georgia upwards. Our mission moving forward is to sustain high economic growth indicators to reinforce these labour market trends”, - said Vakhtang Tsintsadze.

He also pointed out improvements in specific demographics, reporting a drop in urban unemployment by 2.6% and a decrease of 0.5% in rural regions, with the figures currently standing at 14.1% and 13.4%, respectively.
