Despite the artificial unrest and disinformation campaigns, Georgia’s European integration process is progressing, said the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, at the Ambassadors’ Conference 2024.
“The issue of European integration and the pro-Western course, enshrined in our Constitution, has often been used for speculation both domestically and internationally. We are familiar with such tactics, which aim to polarize society, harm Georgia’s interests. Confronting these speculations with truth is our duty.
Despite the artificial unrest and disinformation campaigns, Georgia’s European integration process is progressing. By 2028, we will implement nearly 90% of the Association Agreement. By 2030, we will be well-prepared for EU membership.
Our commitment to strengthening relations with the US remains steadfast. We anticipate resolving misunderstandings under the new administration and ensuring that the priorities outlined in the Strategic Partnership Charter are reflected in all areas of cooperation. Additionally, Georgia is committed to fostering peace and stability in the region through strengthened ties with neighbours, particularly Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, as well as promoting long-term peace in the South Caucasus.
Strengthening connections with our diaspora is also crucial to engage them in nation-building efforts. Together, we will ensure Georgia’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures, enhance our security, and achieve peace, stability, and economic prosperity for our nation”, - said Mikheil Kavelashvili.
