Niko Lekishvili, the former Mayor of Tbilisi, died at the age of 77.

During his career, he worked on different positions. Niko Lekishvili was Vice Prime Minister in 1993-1995 and State Minister in 1990-1991, a member of the Supreme Council and a member of the electoral bloc from the Georgian United Communist Party.

The former Mayor is the signatory of the Act on Restoration of Georgia’s Independence of April 9, 1991.

He also was MP of the 3rd, 5th and 6th Convocation Parliaments, received the title of Tbilisi Honorary Citizen in 2019.
