Traffic to be restricted on some streets of Tbilisi due to the Alilo procession

On Tuesday, January 7, in celebration of Christmas, the Alilo procession will take place in Tbilsi. As a result, vehicle movement on certain streets of the capital will be gradually restricted.

In particular, according to the Tbilisi City Hall, the procession will start at the First Republic Square at 14:00, temporarily disrupting traffic in the area.

Vehicles will be redirected to alternative routes.

“Specifically, vehicles travelling from Kostava Street to Akhvlediani and Kiacheli Streets will use Vashlovani and Ekaladze Streets.

Vehicles coming from the Tabukashvili Street towards Kostava Street will be diverted to Rustaveli Avenue, bypassing Republic Square.

Besides, turning onto Olive Tree Street will only be possible via Rustaveli Avenue.

Starting from 15:00, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Freedom Square. As a result, no drivers will be allowed to enter Freedom Square from Kote Abkhazi and Shalva Dadiani streets. However, drivers can travel up to the ramp at Baratashvili Bridge and through Rustaveli Avenue to Chanturia Street.

As the march moves towards the Holy Trinity Cathedral, traffic will be halted on Baratashvili Bridge, Baratashvili Ascent, Avlabari Square in stages. Vehicles heading towards Freedom Square will be able to navigate using the right bank of the Mtkvari River and Kote Abkhazi Street, while those destined for Avlabari should consider the Dry Bridge and Khetagurov Street as alternative routes.

For public transport, adjustments will be made as well. Buses and mini buses will operate from Mikheil Javakhishvili Street to the right bank of Mtkvari and will connect to various routes scheduled to follow established guidelines simultaneously with the march, the City Hall said.”, - says the Tbilisi City Hall.
