The Speaker of the Parliament said the German and French Governments’ “grumbling” over Elon Musk’s statements and the allegations of election interference were “ironic”.

His comment followed after Michael Roth [Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Bundestag] denounced Musk for supporting the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party a few weeks ahead of the elections in Germany, alleging Musk was interfering in Germany’s elections.

“How ironic is the German and French Governments’ grumbling over Elon Musk’s statements and allegations of election interference. When the Governments of Michael Roth and Nathalie Loiseau [French member of the European Parliament] say something about interfering in another country’s elections.

Hopefully, many will gradually realize that by interfering in the Georgian [parliamentary] elections in such a gross and illegal way, they are cutting off the branch of democracy and sovereignty on which they are sitting”, - writes Shalva Papuashvili.
