The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee deliberated on the Draft Criminal Code.

According to one of the initiators, the Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Archil Gorduladze, a new Article is being introduced to the Code envisaging the illegal preparation, production, transportation and forwarding of drug substances, their analogs, precursors or new psychoactive agents as a separate composition of crime.

New Article 260³ is also introduced to the Criminal Code, envisaging the dealing of drug substances, their analogs, precursors or new psychoactive agents as a separate crime composition.

Yet another Article 260² envisages the dealing and or the facilitation of the dealing of the psychotropic agents, their analogs or potent substances, cannabis or marijuana, other narcotic substances, their analogs, precursors or new psychoactive agents as a separate composition. At that, the said norms envisage stricter penalties for the hereof crimes.

New Article 261¹, introduced to the Code, also envisages a separate composition for: illegal preparation, production, transportation and forwarding of the psychotropic agents, their analogs or potent substances.

“We will employ extreme measures to combat drug dealing. In conjunction with this, we actively engage in discussions regarding drug addiction treatments, including involuntary methods”, - the reporter noted.

The Committee endorsed the Draft Law.
